Ring the Bell – Weekly School Wrap Up

The Douglas Shire has students that shine not only in classrooms but on the track, dance studios, football field and so many other areas and arenas.
Daintree State School
“Make friends and shape your child’s future throughout play”
Playgroup starting for 0–5-year-old kids - an informal playgroup meeting weekly with outdoor play being held on Tuesdays fortnightly 9-11am. Bring a snack, your child’s water bottle and a hat.
Miallo State School
TCN Track and Field saw some athletes from the school put in 100% and did the school proud.
Dallas Shepherdson came second in the 200m final, Billy Meager came 2nd in High jump and Matilda McDonald came third in shotput – with all three securing a place in the Peninsula Trials.
Ashton Wray took first in the 100m while Dallas came 4th in his 100m final, and Maddie made the final in the 100m also.
Toby Bellman also put in an outstanding effort in his 800m but awaits the outcome for his shot in the Peninsula trials.
Ashton Wray and Maddie Patrick also placed in the 200m heats but missed out on the finals – still an awesome effort!
Mossman State School
Huge result at the TCN Athletics Tournament held in Cairns with the team placing third in the aggregate scores. Special congratulations to Jai (2nd 100m, 2nd 200m, 3rd long jump) on 34 points and Brody (1st 200m, 3rd discuss) on 33 points, who took out the 11-year-old age champion and runner up trophies respectively.
Other huge achievements went to Craig (4th 100m, 4th 200m), Ailbe (4th discus, BJ 4th shot put), Chris with a second in the shot put and Mahkus with a fourth in the 100m.
All students displayed teamwork, athleticism, sportsmanship and outstanding conduct!
School Disco: Friday 5th August starting at 4:30PM for P-2 and 6PM for the older grades (3-6). Wear your fluro clothes and if you can volunteer, please comment on the schools Facebook page.
Wonga Beach State School
Khobi made the 10-12 year TCN Cricket Team – plays in Tolga on the 14th to 15th August.
Student Zamirah won the 11-year-old girls age Champion at the TCN Athletics tournament
Holding their NAIDOC Day events to celebrate the First Nations cultures of the community. Held on 1st August it will include dance, music, art, bush tucker knowledge, language and so much more.
