Some of Australia’s most inspiring chefs and industry leaders will arrive in Port Douglas next Thursday, 7 October 2021, to deliver an unforgettable culinary experience over a four-day festival of the senses.
Foodies are in for a treat as Taste Port Douglas Presented by Sheraton marks its highly anticipated return from 7-10 October 2021.
Throughout the four-day festival, Sheraton Grand Mirage Resort Port Douglas will become the bustling epicentre of foodie heaven with its breath-taking backdrop and beachside location, celebrating the food culture and lifestyle of Tropical North Queensland. Led by Spencer Patrick from Harrisons Restaurant, Taste Port Douglas will welcome some of Australia’s leading chefs to the table, including Ben Williamson, Alanna Sapwell and Laura Sharrad.
It all kicks off on Thursday 7 October with the official Taste Port Douglas launch party, poolside at Sheraton Grand Mirage Resort Port Douglas. Then on Friday 8 October Port Douglas’ favorite Long Lunch is back, presented by Jansz and staged in the heart of town under the shade of the Market Park Poinciana trees.
Attendees will be treated to a three course menu prepared by local favorites Salsa, Zinc, Sassi and Harissons, in collaboration with celebrity guest chefs, Laura Sharrad (Nido and Fugazzi, Adelaide), Philip Johnson (Café e’cco, Brisbane), Dominique Rizzo (Urban Feast Cooking School, Brisbane) and Jake Nicolson (Ghanem Group, Brisbane and Melbourne). Guests will also enjoy an Aperol Spritz on arrival, a three-hour beverage package of Yalumba wines and ‘Taste Port Douglas Pale Ale’ (exclusively brewed by Hemingways) and live music by ARIA-award winning artist Kiki Coutidis.
That same evening, East Coast chefs and West Coast wines will come together for a collaborative dinner presented by Vasse Felix Winery of the Margaret River wine region. A thoughtful five-course menu prepared by Spencer Patrick (Harrisons, Port Douglas), Ben Williamson (Agnes, sAme sAme and honto, Brisbane) and Adam Wolfers (Gerards Bistro, Brisbane) will be paired with top-of-the-range Vasse Felix wines for an indulgent culinary evening to remember.
Girls’ Night Out at the Sheraton Grand Mirage Resort Port Douglas will also join the Taste Port Douglas lineup this year with a special festival appearance. Those keen for a splashy night out will be greeted with Belevdere cocktails and canapes on arrival, before diving into a two-course feasting style menu, prepared by Laura Sharrad and Belinda Tuckwell, a three-hour free flow wine package and live entertainment.
From 11am until 4pm on Saturday 9 October, Sheraton Festival Village will take place in the heart of Sheraton Grand Mirage resort Port Douglas with free entry, industry talks, pop up bars, masterclasses and live entertainment, plus a range of activities dedicated to keep Junior Foodies entertained – the perfect family day out. From 5pm, the resort festival grounds will transform into the Harry Hawker Street Food party with gourmet food stalls, pop-up bars and live music by Ashcats Soundsystem and Kiki Courtidis - a night to remember as Port Douglas comes together to celebrate this festival of the senses.
On the final day of Taste Port Douglas, Sunday 9 October, the best of Australian and New Zealand seafood will come together for a special seafood experience with a menu celebrating the champions of the sea. Hosted by industry expert, Umar Nguyen, aka @TheFishGirl, guests will have front row seats to live food stations and even livelier discussions as they enjoy canapés and an Aperol Spritz on arrival, followed by an unlimited seafood feast and a 2.5-hour premium wine package.
