Girls have a night out for great cause
Charity Event

A night of glamour, generosity, and community spirit at Harrisons Restaurant has helped empower local women, raising close to $4000 for the She Shed, a space dedicated to mental health, creativity, and skill-building.
Held on Saturday, February 15, the sold-out Girls Night Out fundraiser saw women come together not just to celebrate but to support a cause that fosters confidence, connection, and hands-on learning through Mossman Support Services.
This marked the second consecutive year that MSS has been selected as the Girls Night Out at Harrisons charity beneficiary.
“The She Shed is about empowerment and fostering independence,” said Mossman Support Services’ Erica Mast.
“It’s a place where women can support each other, build friendships, and develop skills they might not otherwise have access to.”
The event welcomed 110 women for an evening of glamour, generosity, and fun.
Funds were raised through a Scent Sale, where $10 from each ticket was donated, along with proceeds from a raffle boasting more than $9000 in prizes donated by businesses across the Douglas Shire and beyond.
Among the most sought-after prizes were art by First Nations artist Ivy Minicon, luxury spa treatments, a gym membership, and exclusive accommodation packages, including a swim-up lagoon room at the Sheraton with a $150 voucher to Harrisons.
The evening was filled with dancing, laughter, and a strong sense of community, with a Best Dressed award presented to Saalia Meastrom, whose standout shoes stole the show.
Ms Mast described the night as a “a powerful display of women supporting women”, emphasising the positive energy and camaraderie that filled the room.
Representatives of MSS extended their gratitude to Reina Patrick and the team at Harrisons for their continued generosity and commitment to the community.
“We’re also excited to confirm that they have already been invited back as the charity recipients for next year’s event,” Ms Mast said.
