Cooktown fracas leads to charges and fines

A 46-year-old female, a 20-year-old female and a 19-year-old female female were involved in a street disturbance outside of the Cooktown courthouse on Friday, February 28.
It will be alleged the trio were involved in a heated exchange with members of the public and caused unrest to many others.
The 46-year-old female was charged with public nuisance and driving while suspended and was issued with a notice to appear at Cooktown Magistrates Court on April 2, 2025.
The 20-year-old female was issued with multiple infringement notices including commit public nuisance and traffic offences, totalling $1853 in fines.
The 19-year-old female was also issued with multiple infringement notices, also equalling $1853 in fines.
