SPORTS DIGEST: Muddies bowlers dominate Norths
Cricket, Lawn Bowls
The Port Douglas Muddies 2nd Grade cricket side continued its 39-game winning streak on Sunday with a convincing victory against Norths Cricket Club at home.
Batting first in muggy conditions, the Muddies posted 8/142 in their 40 overs, with Daniel Davidson top scoring with 29.
In reply, Norths never really got going in the face of some excellent bowling from the likes of Kaiden Sorensen (2/16), Jackson Hopkinss (2/20) and Adrian Bannerman (2/16).
The main danger came from the weather, which was closing in as the Muddies worked to dismiss the last two batsmen, including some spectacular lightning and thunder over Four Mile Beach.
Not long after the win was sealed in the 30th over, with Norths all out for 105, the skies opened up over Port Douglas with a torrential downpour.

The Bandits, who won the toss and batted, were at one stage 0/95, but finished up on 7/127.
Shaun Anderson took 3/25.
In reply, the Muddies made 4/128 in 27.5 overs, with Kenny Nyko top scoring with 41.
