Slinky’s as sassy as ever
CUTE VIDEO ALERT
Slinky the sausage dog survivor is back to his super sassy self, his scars and sores from 13 days lost in the rugged rainforest around his Julatten home healing and now in full voice.
It was the good news story of the year when the 10-year-old Dachshund’s owner Amanda Haines posted as 2024 came to a close that Slinky had wandered into a neighbour’s yard after thought to have died in from an ordeal a sausage dog shouldn’t have the capacity to survive.
“Slinky is doing wonderfully,’’ Amanda said this week.
“His sassy personality is back in full force, and he’s blissfully unaware of all the fuss.’’
A thorough check up at the vet revealed a few challenges for Slinky to overcome but he is taking it all in his small but authoritative stride.
“He is once again bossing his brother Domino around,’’ Amanda laughed.
“He also has got his voice back after he had lost it during his rainforest adventures.
“And he is quite the famous little dog around Port Douglas when I bring him into the office and out and about on the street,’’ said the Sotherby’s International Realty Team Wolveridge sales executive.
“While some blood results showed slightly abnormal levels, possibly related to processing foreign toxins, he’s on medication and due for a follow-up soon. Thankfully, there’s nothing concerning to report,’’ Amanda added.
“Slinky has returned to his favorite activities, including his signature move of stubbornly standing in front of the robovac, forcing it into a ten-point redirection to complete its cleaning.
“He’s also resumed his role as Domino’s boss, a pastime he thoroughly enjoys, much to Domino's dismay.
“These days, Slinky has taken to following me around more than usual. So, if you’re thinking about buying or selling property and don’t mind a doggy sidekick, there’s a chance he might make a guest appearance at any appointments we arrange!’’
