OPEN EVENING
BUSINESS FEATURE
Looking for the right school for your child? Families are invited to experience all that St Stephen’s Catholic College has to offer at their Open Evening on Tuesday, 11 February from 4.30pm to 6.30pm.
It’s a chance to explore the campus, meet the friendly staff and students, and get a feel for the vibrant community spirit that makes St Stephen’s such a great place to learn.
Principal Gary Conwell said the evening is packed with opportunities to dive into what the College is all about.
“You’ll get to tour the college grounds and classrooms, chat with our staff and students, and try out some hands-on activities,” he said.
A school that prepares students for success
St Stephen’s offers diverse academic and extracurricular programs, including leadership opportunities, Brain Bee, Mooting, and music, encouraging students to thrive.
“At St Stephen’s, we invest in every aspect of our students’ development,” Mr Conwell explained.
“Our goal is to shape compassionate, engaged citizens ready to contribute to their communities.”
The College’s cutting-edge Innovation Centre, set to open by mid-2025, will further enhance learning with modern facilities and expanded curriculum offerings.
“Our students leave here ready to take on the world, equipped with the knowledge, skills, and values to pursue careers in medicine, science, trades, or any path they choose,” Mr Conwell said.
“Recent graduates include a 2017 alumnus pursuing a career in medicine, a safety officer at one of Queensland’s largest underground coal mines, and the 2023 College Dux, who is now studying advanced science with plans for an exciting research career.”
A welcoming community for families
At St Stephen’s, families are seen as key partners in education.
“We want to empower parents to feel confident as they guide their kids through school,” Mr. Conwell said.
The College’s Family Connect program, evolved from the traditional P&F Association, offers flexible, once-per-term meetings with no ongoing commitment.
These sessions feature expert speakers on topics like parenting, cyber safety, vocational pathways and adolescent mental health.
Parents also have access to SchoolTV, a free resource for advice on positive parenting, school survival, mental health and more.
Staff work closely with families, providing individual support to help parents navigate their child’s educational journey.
