As the warm weather returns, so does one of Australia’s biggest sports, cricket.

And the Port Douglas Muddies are gearing up to go all in with a repeat of last season’s premiership success.

With the season starting this Saturday, October 12, the Muddies are fine tuning their game plans and making last-minute preparations.

After winning the C grade grand final last year, the expectations are high to repeat that success and go back-to-back.

The Muddies look to enter three senior men's teams this year which is the first time in many seasons they have been able to do so, thanks to a rapid spike in numbers.

When asked about any major changes from Season 2023 club president and local sports show host Adrian Bannerman said “the biggest change is we’re entering a team in Second Grade, which is great as it’s the first time in a long time we've been able to do this”.

“We’re also entering three senior teams this year but can still use any new players who are keen to play.”

Any new players are heavily encouraged to reach out to the Muddies if they would like to play in season 2024.

Trainings are every Tuesday and Thursday from 4:30pm.

The club has plenty of spare equipment for players who’d like to give it a go.

The Muddies’ first home game of the season is on October 12 with Third Grade playing on

Saturday and Second Grade playing on the Sunday, both against Barron.
