Mossman Support Services puts one foot forward for Mental Health Month
Mental Health Month
October is Mental Health Month and Mossman Support Services, together with The Black Dog Institute are putting ‘One Foot Forward’ with a community walking group every Tuesday and Friday morning in October to raise awareness for the 1 in 5 people that have a mental illness.
Acknowledging that 2024 has been a very challenging year for many in the community and that exercise and social interactions are supportive and benefit our mental health, Mossman Support Services has organised the regular walking group.
“Anyone is welcome to come along, walk with us, meet new people, connect with others either through conversation during the walk, or just to be part of it,’’ said Lifestyle Support Worker Reanna Wickenton.
“There’s also no need to chat if you’re not up for it!’’
Participants should meet at 8.30am at 4 Mill St, Mossman (outside the Lifestyle Support Office) to join the walk (approx. 30 mins). All fitness levels are welcome.
Tuesday participants are welcome to then head down to the Chillout Music Group to continue the positive vibes; while Friday walkers can choose to have a cuppa and cake together down at The Hub at Mossman Support Services.
For further information please contact Reanna 0499 308 191 or email: [email protected] or just show up at 8.30am on Tuesdays and Fridays each week during October.
