Queensland’s beloved country music festival comes to the doorstep of the Douglas Shire in just under a week, and it has defied all odds this year by displaying a 25 percent increase on ticket sales compared to last year.

Picture this - at Mareeba Rodeo Arena, in the hinterlands of Tropical North Queensland, the state’s premier country music shindig, Savannah in the Round is getting ready to open its gates for 2024.

From this Friday, October 11 to 13, some of the world’s finest musical talent will come together in Mareeba to perform to a cumulative audience of 24,000, totalling 9,000 unique visitors.

The festival has continued to defy the odds amidst an especially challenging year for the national music industry. With cancellations happening left and right, Savannah has managed to flip the script and grow its 2024 audience exponentially.

Camping for the event has completely sold out also.

Festival Director James Dein says of the growth, “Savannah in the Round is cultivating and developing our own tribe.

“Many of our patrons are first-time festival goers, so we’re doing our bit in growing the pie when it comes to attendees and supporters of the industry.”

With a little bit for everyone at this year’s main stage - recently renamed The Cape in an ode to Cape York - there’ll be packed performances across three days. All the way from the United States, Kip Moore and Tyler Hubbard will join world class Aussie acts like Sheppard, Lee Kernaghan, The Living End, Hoodoo Gurus, Jon Stevens, Hindley Street Country Club, James Johnston and Troy Cassar-Daley to light up The Cape.

Punters will be able to explore the rest of the massive lineup at the festival's other stages Big Top Music Hall, Bull Bar, and The Rolling Backyard Stage. And proper partiers never fear, as there’ll be late nights at the Big Top Music Hall with Dee Jaye Bux or live music in the Bull Bar until late to keep the fun going.

Savannah in the Round prides itself on the high level of local talent that they are able to platform each year, as can be seen on this year’s bill with names like Roadtrippers, Jeremy Fletcher, Brooke Schubert, Katie Richards Band, Blue Reed, and Pelicana all on the bill.

The festival will be held from October 11 to 13 at the Mareeba Rodeo Arena in the Cairns Hinterland.
