A man has died after being struck by a ute in South Mossman.

A man has died after being hit by a ute on the Captain Cook Highway in Shannonvale south of Mossman at about 9.10pm last night.

The 29-year-old Cooktown man died at the scene a short time after paramedics arrived, while the driver of the white Holden Colorado ute was not injured.

The driver rendered assistance to the pedestrian before emergency services arrived.

A woman was also transported to Mossman Hospital with no injuries.

The Queensland Police Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the crash, which took place on Saturday, November 23.

Any witnesses, or anyone with relevant dashcam vision, is urged to come forward.
