The committee at the Douglas Arts Gallery are set to open their Annual Art Show on November 22, at 6pm.
The show will be open to the public from November 26 to December 21, following the official launch.
The public are encouraged to come and enjoy the lovely artworks created by many of our DAB members who have been making some amazing creations for this art show. There will be many items for purchase.
The Art Show will be open Mondays to Saturdays during the dates of the exhibition at 11 Mill Street, Mossman (opposite the library).
Crisafulli names Assistant Ministry
The Crisafulli Government Cabinet will be supported with a young and hungry generation next Assistant Ministry, unveiled on Sunday by Premier Crisafulli.
The new Assistant Ministry will help deliver a Fresh Start for Queensland and includes representatives from every region to ensure a strong voice for regional Queensland.
The Premier has followed the lead of New South Wales in expanding the Assistant Ministry to ten positions to bolster stakeholder engagement and provide a pathway for future leadership.
The full Assistant Ministry includes:
Dr Christian Rowan – Assistant Minister to the Premier on Matters of State and New Citizens.
Trevor Watts – Assistant Minister to the Premier for Cabinet and South West Queensland.
Amanda Stoker – Assistant Minister for Finance, Trade, Employment and Training
Herman Vorster – Assistant Minister for Multicultural Affairs and International Student Attraction
Rebecca Young – Assistant Minister to the Deputy Premier and Assistant Minister for Planning, Housing and Better Regulation
Janelle Poole – Assistant Minister for Community Safety, Defence Industry, Veterans and North Queensland
Bryson Head – Assistant Minister for Regional Development, Resources and Critical Minerals.
Bree James – Assistant Minister for Tourism, Early Learning, Creative Industries and Far North Queensland
Donna Kirkland – Assistant Minister for Mental Health, Drug and Alcohol Treatment, Families and Seniors and Central Queensland
Sean Dillion – Assistant Minister for Primary Industry Development, Water and Western Queensland.
Croc attack video confuses
A video posted on the To The Cape and Back Information Facebook page of a crocodile launching at a boat load of fishers, including children, is gaining plenty of attention.... but it seems it is likely to be from half a world away.
Patrick Hughes posted the video on Monday morning, November 11, of the grounded tinny with six fishers in it working to bring in a fish when a crocodile launches from the murky waters narrowly missing the hand of a young boy reaching over the side.
There's little more explanation to the video, and efforts by Newsport to contact Mr Hughes have been unsuccessful.

Remembrance Day has been recognised at a gathering at the Douglas Shire administration building, marking the 106th anniversary of the end of World War I.
Traders have their say on Macrossan St speeds
News that the speed limit is soon to be lowered in Macrossan Street, Port Douglas, has been met with mixed reaction from the people with a box seat to what takes place in the busy high street.
Traders have differing opinions on the combination of a 40km/hr section of Macrossan Street from Davidson Street to Grant Street, and then 30km/hr for the remainder of the main street trading street through to Wharf Street. You can TAKE OUR POLL
Fish farm “sorry” for foul smell
The directors of the Killaloe fish farm which is the source of a vile stench that has plagued neighbours and wafted into Port Douglas over the past two weeks say they are deeply sorry to the community and they are working hard to fix the issue while investing in equipment to prevent it happening again.
