Raiders to chase third straight win in battle against the Bulls
HOME GAME
The Port Douglas Reef Raiders will try to make it three wins in a row when they take on Barron Trinity Bulls at the Port Douglas Sports Complex on Saturday afternoon.
After a slow start to the season, the Raiders have clicked into gear in the past fortnight with big wins over Southside and Wanderers.
Last weekend the Raiders ran in seven tries to three in an upset 45-19 win over Wanderers with Tommy Ingram, Manuel Ordas and Jeronimo Lo Presti the standout performers.
Club President Travis Gooch praised the hard work the team was putting in under coach Stan Afeaki as well as the support the team was receiving at home games.
“The team has been training well and it is now starting to show on the field,” Gooch said.
“They are playing some exciting rugby and scoring some great tries.
“It’s been awesome to see the grandstand and bank filled with supporters at each home game this season.
“We look forward to seeing everyone back down at Raider Park this Saturday.”
The last home game saw the Rugby Club raise $10,000 for skipper Richard Johnston who was recently diagnosed with Leukaemia.
Tomorrow's match gets underway from 4pm.
