Australia's leading country music performer to make third straight Savannah in the Round appearance
LINE UP ANNOUNCEMENT
Far North Queensland’s favourite music festival will have a distinctly Aussie flavour following the unveiling of this year’s line-up for October’s Savannah in the Round (SITR).
For the third straight year and in a huge coup for the event the hottest prospect in Australian country music - James Johnston - will appear in Mareeba at the very festival he made his famous debut nearly three years ago.
Fellow country performer Brad Cox will also return to FNQ for another appearance at SITR.
In light of no US headliners, Australian rock legend Jimmy Barnes is the festival’s main act which will take place from October 6-8.
The event will also showcase 15 local North Queensland performers.
Well known faces such as Beccy Cole and Adam Harvey will make their debut at this year’s festival, as will Kate Ceberano and Kasey Chambers.
"A few years ago I had the pleasure of heading to North Queensland as part of my "Shutting Down Your Town" tour and it re-opened my eyes to just how beautiful this country can be," Jimmy Barnes remarked.
“With a combination of some of the country's most beautiful locations, populated by some great North Queensland music lovers, I couldn't be happier to be heading up to Mareeba for Savannah in the Round this year."
Savannah in the Round officials confirmed this year’s festival will also include a special edition of the iconic Great Northern Bullriding Series, which will see some of the world’s best riders go head to head in a one-of-a-kind two-hour bull riding spectacular, soundtracked by some of Australia’s best music.
All in all it’s shaping up as another ripping event.
"Australian music has never been hotter, so we decided this year to lead with the locals first," festival director James Dein told Newsport.
"This year’s event will welcome a who’s who of the best in Australian rock, pop and country heading north for a three-day party.
“Savannah in the Round is a true celebration of everything that’s great about Australia and everything that’s special about Far North Queensland and this year’s event will be our biggest one yet.”
