CRICKET SUCCESS
Port Douglas cricketer Banjo Jenkins was a part of the victorious team at the Brisbane Premier League under-13s T20 competition last week.
Jenkins played for the Darling Dingoes and picked up three of the teams ‘Man of the Match’ awards in the tournament playing in the key roles of number three batsman and wicket keeper.
“It’s the second year we have won the tournament and we had a really good team this year so there was a bit of expectation,” the young cricketer said.
“Next year we are going for the three-peat.”
Jenkins has a busy month ahead with the under-12s state schoolboys titles in Rockhampton next week, where he hopes to make the Queensland team that plays in November in Shepparton, Victoria.
“I made the Queensland team underage last year so I am hoping to go one better try to get selected as the captain this year,” Jenkins joked.
The emerging cricketer’s ability has resulted in him being offered a cricket scholarship at a Brisbane GPS school in 2023.
