Left untouched since 1993 a stunning 6.3-hectare property of natural bushland with access to a private beach has been placed on the market for the first time in 30 years.

This extraordinary property described as ‘Paradise Valley' is 45 minutes south of Port Douglas and has already attracted the interest of international and local investors.

“The degree of privacy in a coastal setting is quite unusual anywhere up and down the Australian Coast,” Gary Hunt, Architect, Port Douglas, said of the property.

With the sale comes the possibility of a radical transformation with the redevelopment of the headland approved by Cairns Council, till 2026.

Recently the current owner commissioned Hunt to design options that offer keen buyers an opportunity of a lifetime, to create a paradise escape or commercial investment.

On offer are three options for redevelopment, "a luxury resort, a multi-unit development or a residential subdivision,” Robert Fletcher, Director, Australia Pacific, Forbes Global Properties said.

For those seeking pure luxury, five residential homes could be built into the ridge each offering a private paradise with extensive ocean views.

What stands this property in such good stead is that with relative ease, a path could make its way down to a small beach.

The current owners, the Singapore-based Ho family, purchased Buchan Point while holidaying in Far North Queensland and were astounded by the beauty of the area.

Today Buchan Point is one of the last properties in the Ho family’s Australian portfolio after selling some of their most iconic hotels including the Novotel Resort in Cairns.

The property was on the market in 2014 and 2019 for $20 million but failed to raise an offer that matched the beauty of the property. In 2022 the world is different, and many people are searching for a new lifestyle.

Today, as the world wakes from Covid, it’s believed that Buchan Point will be heavily sought after by those seeking something special, something different. “When viewing the Point I’m mesmerised by views of the water, and the seclusion. It is truly something unique.” Fletcher said.
